Santos, built for life, built to live....

Updated: May 10, 2019

I am leaving in the morning and it is raining cats and dogs. Stormwind, right in my face. After a quarter of an hour, I am soaken wet....This is gonna be a though day..... My bicycle with two batteries, the luggage and the driver weights all together about 150 KG... I must admit that the driver is by far the biggest portion....

Wind is blowing that hard that even during a steep hilldown, I need tp push... if not, it is stand still....

After one hour, the controls of the bike’s automation intervene and cut the power... I am risking to burn the wiring of the engine since I am asking too much power of the machine to move forward, even in low gear and with little support of the electrical motor...

I am driving some distance without my engine, full wind ahead and hilly landscape... this is a nightmare... I try a “hard reset” by decoupling the engine and reconnecting the plug...A few minutes later, the same problem reoccures...

I call Stefan from Casa de Cyclistas in Ghent where I bought the bike - a shop I recommend by the way - but we don’t find other measures we can take...

I continue my journey in very low gear, hardly moving forward and gently pushing the pedals, not to force the mechanisms....

As the weather improves I finally realize to get to my point of destination, Baroville, at more normal speeds.
