Thomas Becket was an archbishop who get killed in this cathedral in 1170.

He was the chancellor of Hendrik II. Being a bright intellectual, he was reputated to be troublesome and strong willed. He never shied away from expressing his clear opinion.

As a result, he was not always highly appreciated and particularly the queen was not a fan of the man...He finally got murdered in the cathedral by four knights of the King.

The shrine which was put on the place of the murder was destroyed by order of King Henry VIII. They now burn a candle on this place.

Lukas and myself bring a tribute to the memory of Thomas Becket which is teaching us that we should foster dissant intelligent voices as a source of wisdom....
