Just a few hundred meters from the ruines of Ablain-Saint-Nazaire, I meet this memorial. It overlooks the valley with he church....
The monument is constructed to honour the soldiers who died in Algeria, Tunisia and Marocco in the period 1952 - 1964...
What had the French lost in this part of the world. One would assume that after the two tragedies on their own territories, they would know better....
