Italia, totalement diversio

I am entering Italy and as I was chocked to see the difference between France and Swiss, so am I now flabbergasted by the sudden change as soon as I pass the border...

The roads are in a bad condition and I need to slow down during the descent to keep it safe... the buildings are not maintained, the drivers agressive...

How come, how come ... that frontiers can be such a demarkation line between cultures and economies....
